Welcome to Canada! We invite you to come and learn by participation and experience Food Addiction Recovery work first hand.
The group will consist of students from Infact as well as clients seeking Food Addiction treatment. The aim is abstinence number one, and preparation and learning tools to support further recovery.

Counselors, facilitators and lecturers: Esther Helga Gudmundsdottir from MFM and INFACT.  Amanda Leigh from SHIFT/ACORN, Dr. Vera Tarman MD, Renascent.
Kitchen and food support: Agnes Thora Gudmundsdottir from MFM and INFACT.

  1. We will meet for the first group Friday September 27th. at the retreat center at 7-9pm, and end Wednesday October 2nd. at 2pm
  2. All participant lodge at the Six Mile Lake Retreat-center: This is shared room accomodation, two to three per room.
  3. We will be learning by doing; that means you will be entering treatment mode which means:
    No outside interruptions; no phone, tv, computers or books irrelevant to the treatment. Please make an effort to be without outside interruptions. If you do need to have outside connection, please talk with (Esther) and we will make special arrangements.
  4. Please give your family this number to call in case of emergency: 354-699-2676.
  5. This will be an INFACT training treatment intensive.  We will be introducing models for the MFM outpatient treatment, the Shift/Acorn 5 day treatment and 30 day inpatient treatment. We will give time for discussions for students of INFACT.
  6. We use an abstinence based food plan which excludes sugar and starches and all foods and eating patterns that trigger the pleasure centers in the brain. Everyone will be individually assessed before the intensive for appropriate measures regarding their abstinence plan.
    Coffee and Tea will be provided.
    Please let us know of any special dietary needs and we will try to accommodate as possible.
  7. Saturday we will be learning about food plans and individualizing a plan for everyone. You will be assigned a co-sponsor for the time period.
  8. What will be provided:
    a. Writing material and pencils, pillows and comforters, Food, Love and support
    b. Transportation will be provided for extra price to and from the Retreat Center from Toronto.
  9. What you need to bring: Your own linens: Sheets and pillowcases + Inside towels, and beach towels. A digital scale (I suggest you have two and extra batteries) Warm clothing, shoes for in house and outdoors. Warm sweater, swimsuit. Toiletries. (Please do not use strong perfumed toiletries, many are allergic) Medication. 12 step material.
